GROUND BREAKING CEREMONY MARKS THE START OF A NEW CHAPTER FOR CALGAVIN

On Friday 14 October 2022, a ground breaking marked the start of construction for CALGAVIN’S new Centre for Flow Processing (CFP).

The new Centre for Flow Processing building will be the focal point for the integration of both commercial, application specific research, with fundamental university led research underpinning the company’s science and engineering-based business.

CALGAVIN’s cutting-edge engineering competency is well supported by several UK and European Universities and in particular its partnership with the University of Birmingham School of Chemical Engineering. This combined development approach positions CALGAVIN at the forefront of its science led technology business. 

The event was attended by Honorary guest, Rt. Hon. Nadim Zahawi MP, guest speakers, The Mayor of Alcester, Cllr Kathryn Cargill and Professor of Formulation Engineering at the University of Birmingham Jonathan Seville.

Managing Director Martin Gough of CALGAVIN started the proceedings by welcoming and thanking all guests which included, members from The University of Birmingham, School of Chemical Engineering, the developers, GRAFTONGATE, Legal, Thursfields Solicitors, Lodders Solicitors, Finance, Royal Bank of Scotland, Project Managers, Fisher German, Engineering Services Design Practice, Avison Young, planning, Stratford District Council, IChemE and CALGAVIN staff. 

Martin Gough commented on “how it had taken years of planning and hard work and sincerely thanked all who had supported CALGAVIN in getting to this significant point in the development”.

Professor of Formulation Engineering at the University of Birmingham Jonathan Seville said that “The School of Chemical Engineering is proud to be working alongside CALGAVIN on the exciting new Centre for Flow Processing, which is a terrific opportunity for students and staff of the University to work alongside CALGAVIN’s staff on projects with huge industrial impact.”

Cllr Kathryn Cargill said she was “Proud to see a local company serving a global market go from strength to strength and stay within Alcester” 

The Rt. Hon. Nadim Zahawi MP said “CALGAVIN, is a unique company that has for over 40 years and continues to, work with science, discovery and investments turning research into real development and global exports”

The ceremony was brought to a close with the Rt. Hon Nadhim Zahawi MP, making the first dig into the ground on which the new Centre for Flow Processing will be built.
